Analog Input Box (AIB)

Ordercode: AIB (8 chanels, +/- 1 Volt input range) EUR 4000,- no longer available

The Analog Input Box (AIB) is an extra option to acquire additional analog input signals which have to be kept isolated from the subject. For example mains powered equipment. Up to 32 channels can be acquired simultaneously with up to 256 channels from the AD-box connected to the subject.
A first fiber carries the data coming from the subject connected AD-box to the AIB, then a second fiber with the combined data goes from the AIB to the receiver where the total 288 channels are processed.

Including 8 channels

Daisy chain

Download Daisy-chain leaflet

Ordercode: DAISY EUR 1000,- no longer available

With the Daisy chain optical input, an AD-box will be able to perform 'Hyperscanning'.
AD-boxes can be daisy-chained for simultaneous synchronized measurements on 2, 3 or 4 subjects (Hyperscanning). When AD-boxes are equipped with Daisy chain inputs, then they can be connected by optical fibers: Box1 --> Box2 --> Box3 --> Box4 --> USB-receiver plus computer.
Because the AD-boxes are only connected by optical fibers (each system has its own battery power supply), the systems and subjects remain completely galvanically isolated from each other (optimal interference suppression and safety). Distance between the subjects can be up to hundreds of meters.

The sample rate of all systems is synchronized. All signals from the 2, 3 or 4 systems are processed in a single computer, and stored in a single file. In daisy chain mode, the systems can be used with a maximum of 128+8+sensors per system on 2 kHz sample-rate: Speedmode explanation.
We do not support coupling systems for measurements on a single subject. The reason is that signal quality may suffer when montages are made that contain channels from different AD-boxes (channels from one AD-box subtracted from channels in another AD-box). Optimal signal quality is achieved when all ADCs refer to a single continuous ground-plane on a single mother board.
The Daisy input can be retrofitted in AD-boxes with serial Moth16 or newer.

Ergo input

Ordercode: Single Ergo (1 x bi-polar input) EUR 400,- no longer available
Ordercode: Dual Ergo (2 x bi-polar input) EUR 800,- no longer available

Extra Aux connector with bi-polar analog input for isolated sensors.
This general purpose analog input can be used for all kinds of isolated auxiliary signals such as: custom made GSR measurement devices, microphones, photo sensors, response switches). The Ergo connector is a DIN 5-pole connector with a 5 Volt power supply available (300 mA max). The Ergo input can be retrofitted in AD-boxes with serial Moth16 or newer.
Note: For un-isolated sensors use the AIB.
- Input range: +/- 1 Volt.

Ergo Optical

Ordercode: Ordercode: Ergo Optical EUR 1000,- no longer available

The Ergo Optical cable allows to connect 1 analog signal to the Ergo input. The Ergo Optical cable will make sure that that analog signal will remain perfectly isolated from the AD-box. For example connecting the audio output of a PC to the AD-box. The Ergo Optical uses a 5 meter long optical fiber. For 1 analog signal you need 1 Ergo Optical cable and 1 Ergo input. For 2 analog signals, you need 2 Ergo Optical cables and 2 Ergo inputs.
The Ergo Optical cable is an alternative for the AIB if you need only 1 or 2 channels, or if you need higher sample-rates than 2 kHz (a system with an AIB only runs on Speedmode 4 @ 2kHz sampling-rate). A system with an Ergo Optical may run on any Speedmode, up to 16 kHz.

The optical transmitter (connected to the mains powered signal source) is powered by an ACDC adapter. (included)
The optical receiver (connected to the AD-box) is powered by the AD-box.
The dynamic range is 60 dB. The input range is +2 Volt to -2 Volt. (for signals below 10mV the AIB should be used)
The Ergo Optical cable is able to connect to a standard audio mini jack.

PS: The Ergo Optical cord is excluding the Ergo Input.

Galvanic Skin Response

Ordercode: GSR input including GSR cord. EUR 1125,- no longer available
Ordercode: GSR cord only. EUR 150,- available

With this ActiveTwo accessory, the impedance of the skin can be measured. The GSR exists of 2 passive Nihon Kohden electrodes to induce an oscillator signal synchronized with the sample-rate. Because the BioSemi GSR uses "Lock-in detection", the stimulus-current can be as low as 1uA. The low-current and synchronized oscillator ensure that the biopotential measurements (ECG,EEG,EMG) are not corrupted by the GSR oscillator signal. This sensor input can be retrofitted in AD-boxes with serial Moth16 or newer.

Headbox

Ordercode: HEADBOX ACT32 EUR 1000,- available

Photo sensor

Ordercode: Photo sensor input including Photo cord. EUR 550,- no longer available
Ordercode: Photo sensor cord only. EUR 150,- available

Light detector for direct connection to the Ergo input.
The sensor consists of a sensitive PIN diode with integrated trans impedance amplifier. This sensor can be used for measuring visual stimuli simultaneously with the physiological data (EEG). This allows checking the timing accuracy of the used stimulus setup. The Ergo input can be retrofitted in AD-boxes with serial Moth16 or newer.

Respiration belt
Ordercode: Respiration input including respiration belt. EUR 1125,- no longer available
Ordercode: Respiration belt (cord only, no input) EUR 400,- available

This Plethysmograph sensor (blood flow sensor) from ADI instruments (MLT1020) uses an infrared photoelectric sensor to detect changes in tissue blood volume. The Plethysmograph sensor directly plugs into the front of the ActiveTwo. Click here for the .pdf specifications of the plethysmograph. The Plethysmograph input can be retrofitted in AD-boxes with serial Moth16 or newer.

Response switch
Ordercode: Response switch including Ergo input EUR 475,- no longer available
Ordercode: Response switch only. EUR 75,- available

Response switches for optimal response timing, subject isolation, and direct connection to the Ergo input or Switch input on the AD-box.
These response switches ensure accurate timing of the response moments (pulse is mixed directly with the incoming EEG signals) as well as optimal isolation of the subject (no grounded equipment near the subject). Using the USB trigger port also has good timing, but has the disadvantage of bringing the safety grounds near the subject. Under Windows, it is advisable to only use the PC keyboard (ActiView: function keys F1-F8) for none time critical responses because Windows OS is not a real time operating system. There is no fixed timing relation between incoming data through the USB port (EEG data) and signals coming from the keyboard (subject response). The timing relation between the USB port (EEG data) and the keyboard (subject response) can not be determined precisely under Windows.
The BioSemi Response switches connected to the AD-box will make sure your response timing is accurate and your subject isolation remains optimal !
